Pr Marcello Buiatti

Full Professor of Genetics at the University of Florence since 1981.

Prof. Buiatti is the author of more than 200 publications mostly in international journals and volumes and seven books.

He organised several international meetings in Europe.

Present honours :

Prof. Buiatti is President of the National Association “Environment and Labour”  dealing with risk assessment , bio-safety, environmental and social issues related to industrial, agriculture end health related production.

President of the Inter-University Centre “Res viva” of Philosophy of Biology and Bioethics, President of the Interdepartmental Centre on Biotechnology ( University of Florence).

Italian delegate in Biostrat and Biodiversa ( ERA-NET on Biodiversity).

Consultant expert of the European Social and Economic Committee on matters related to GMO release and detection.

Member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian National research Council on Agricultural Sciences ( C.R.A.). 

Expert on the inter-ministerial Committee on GMO  release.

Member of the Ministerial Commission on Biodiversity, Scientific coordinator of GMO detection of the regional Government of Tuscany dell’Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare.

Member of the International commission on Food and of the Biodiversity Foundation of Slow Food.

Prof M. Buiatti is a member of the National Academy of the “Georgofili”.

Member of the steering Committee of the Italian theoretical Biology Society.

Member of several Scientific associations both national and international.

Member of the editorial Board of Caryologia , Redia,Iride,Biology Forum , Tailoring Biotechnology and other national journals.
